You need leads. One of the most fun ways to get 20 very, very warm leads is by speaking. You may be speaking for free or for expenses, but you can generate thousands of dollars worth of leads by speaking at brown bag lunches, conferences and special events of all kinds.
The key to your success? Deliver a talk that's exciting. Make your slides memorable. Give something away (digital files are free). Be a person with answers or one with incredible questions. Be sure that you say, "Our department provides business learning solutions (or contract training or whatever you're calling it) and I would love to talk with you about that. If you want to talk, leave me your card up here and I will get back to you tomorrow."
You now have a name and fundamentally, and appointment for a sales call.
